What makes these matches different from standard cigar matches?
Three things: thickness, burn time, and finish. Standard cigar matches are thin enough to snap when you strike them and burn out before you've finished lighting. These are 3× thicker — they won't break on the strike — and they burn slow and even for up to 60 seconds. That's enough time to light a cigar properly, with one match, without rushing.
They're also hand-finished with a Slojd knife, which gives each match a slightly irregular, tapered profile. It's not purely decorative — that profile helps the match seat cleanly between your fingers and gives you a more controlled strike.
How do I use a long cigar match?
Strike away from your body on the striker strip provided. Let the sulfur head burn off for a second or two before bringing the flame to the foot of the cigar — you'll taste the difference. Rotate the cigar slowly as you light, keeping the flame just below the leaf rather than touching it directly. The long burn time means you don't have to rush.
For more detail on the technique, see the Cigar 101 page.
How many matches come in a box?
Two sizes: a 50-pack and a 100-pack. Both ship free within the US.
When do you ship?
Orders ship on Tuesdays. The cutoff is Monday at midnight (12:00 AM ET). Orders placed after the cutoff go out the following Tuesday.
Do you ship outside the United States?
Not currently. US orders only, shipping included in the price.
What leather goods do you carry?
Match pouches, leather cigar cases, and a snap-up cigar stand — all made by hand, no machines. We sell what we have in stock. No custom orders, with one exception: cigar cases can have a monogram added (up to 3 characters). We'll ask for that at checkout.
How do I add a monogram to a cigar case?
There's a monogram field at checkout when you purchase a leather cigar case. Enter up to 3 characters and choose a lettering style from the samples shown. That's the only customization we offer — we keep it simple so the work stays consistent.
What is your return policy?
We stand behind what we make. If something arrives damaged or isn't right, get in touch and we'll make it right. See the full Shipping & Returns page for details.
Can I place a custom order?
No. We sell what we have in stock. The only customization available is the monogram on leather cigar cases. This is intentional — it keeps the quality consistent and the operation manageable.
Who makes these?
Aaron makes the matches — hand-cut with a backsaw, hand-finished with a Slojd knife. The leather goods are also made entirely by hand. Lindsay handles shipping, customer support, and keeps the whole thing running. It's a family operation.
